2025 Impact Report

Message from the President

2025 was a big year for 黑料正能量,  and an exciting one. Together, we expanded how we educate, connect, and support our community, all while staying true to our mission to advance veterinary internal medicine.

From a dynamic 黑料正能量 Forum in Louisville to the continued growth of our Advanced Continuing Education and professional skills programming, we delivered meaningful learning at every career stage. We welcomed new Candidates and Diplomates, strengthened certification, and launched new tools and partnerships to better support our members and elevate specialty medicine.

None of this happens without the passion of our volunteers, the engagement of our members, and the strength of our partners. Thank you for the energy and commitment you bring to 黑料正能量,  I鈥檓 excited about where we鈥檙e headed next.

Sincerely,

Henry Green, DVM, D黑料正能量 (Cardiology)

Compensation Compass Survey and Dashboard Launch

  • In 2025, the 黑料正能量 Membership Committee deployed a veterinary specialty compensation and benefits benchmarking survey in partnership with the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP). The first of its kind, the survey collected 2024 compensation and benefits data from both 黑料正能量 and ABVP members and aggregated this data into a dynamic reporting dashboard called the Specialty VetMed Compensation Compass. A new exclusive  member benefit, the Compensation Compass survey launched in the final quarter of 2025 with the interactive results dashboard and reporting going live in December. It provides valuable insights into salary and overall compensation in the field.

Awareness Initiatives

In 2025, the Specialty Medicine Awareness Committee advanced a comprehensive research project designed to better understand how pet owners and primary care veterinarians perceive Board-certified veterinary specialists. This work has the potential to shape the way our profession communicates its value for years to come.

Key milestones from 2025:

  • Deep insights from pet owners - data collection with animal owners is complete, and Trone Research & Consulting is analyzing results that will help us understand awareness gaps, decision-making, and opportunities to elevate specialty medicine.
  • Momentum and support, the project secured partial funding for 2025, with additional support being pursued for 2026 to continue building on this important work.
  • Expanding the research, planning is already underway for the next phase, the referral DVM survey, set to launch in 2026, allowing us to compare perspectives across audiences and strengthen our understanding of the referral relationship.

This foundational research represents a major step toward empowering Diplomates, strengthening referral relationships, and ensuring pet owners everywhere understand the value of specialty care.
